LoveToKnow 1911 talk:Explanation - Comments
From LoveToKnow 1911
One thing that could be improved is readability, namely gray space. You could simply break up the paragraphs with white space, so that it doesn't labor they eye to keep one's place and find the next line.
In fact, if you would break a page into two columns, it would be even even easier to follow a line and keep one's eye on track.
I will try to do that with this article, to illustrate.
What does it mean?
5. Use on Other Web Sites. The Contents are licensed only for the personal, household, educational use by a single individual. Reproducing Content on another site or redistributing Content is forbidden. Taking Content from this site and editing it and posting it on another site is also forbidden. You may not modify, publish, transmit, participate in the transfer or sale of, reproduce, create new works from, distribute, perform, display, or in any way exploit, any of the Content or the Service (including software) in whole or in part.
The 1911 Britannica is in public domain now. How can you forbid or restrict its use in any way? Scanning a book creates no new copyright whatsoever. So you should indicate precisely, what parts of your site are restricted in use — because the 1911 text as such (whether on paper or in electronic form) is free, and anyone may use it for any purpose, without any conditions.
- Section 5 does not address copyright issues, rather it is a Terms of Use protection so that the work that has been done to create this site is not stolen. As with all other web sites, any user of this site must abide by the Terms of Use - or choose not to use the site. --Howieboy 14:48, 22 Jan 2007 (PST)
